This simple adage forms the basis of the philosophy of Individual Self Defense.  Taking care of yourself is a full-time job.  Since you are the only stuck with yourself all day, that makes it your job.  No one else's. 

The brave men and women that put their lives on the line each day as police officers are heroes.  But they cannot be everywhere at once.  We believe that you have to be in control of your own security in order to truly feel safe.  This is something that needs to be done yourself.  Self defense is just that: your personal safety, provided by you and you alone.
